  1. Choose an AI difficulty or create a private room for two players.
  2. The General, Marshal, and all four Advisors start visible and loyal. Every other piece starts covered and shuffled.
  3. Three covered pieces in each camp secretly belong to the enemy.
  4. On your turn, either move one controlled piece or reveal any covered piece on the board.
  5. A covered piece moves like a Chariot for up to three points and stays covered after a normal move.
  6. Capturing, being captured, or choosing Reveal exposes its real identity.
  7. A covered piece's background shows its current controller. In a covered-piece capture, the target reveals first, then the attacker, before the move finishes.
  8. After reveal, the piece changes to its real side and follows normal Xiangqi movement.
  9. Every action passes the turn. A reveal or betrayal never grants an extra response move.
  10. Horse legs, Elephant eyes, Cannon screens, palaces, rivers, and facing Generals all apply. An Elephant revealed across the river may return home, but cannot cross again after returning.
  11. Checkmate wins. While in check, covered pieces may block or capture like Chariots for up to three points.
  12. Private matches allow 60 seconds per turn. A timeout skips the turn; three timeouts lose the match.
